An American Beech Tree

I came upon this American Beech tree on a walk beside the Eno River in Hillsborough NC.  I was captivated by the interesting exposed roots of the tree poised beside the path.  I decided to use a “line and wash” technique (waterproof ink plus watercolor) to highlight the contrast between the roots and the pretty fall foliage.
