Being Heard

As I stood in the back of the NC Diaper Bank truck serving as a volunteer unloading supplies, I witnessed this tender scene at one of the hotels we visited to help the displaced residents of the McDougald Terrace housing complex in Durham, NC.  A resident approached us who was both thankful for the help of the Diaper Bank while also distraught by the situation they found themselves in.  Michelle Old, the founder of the Diaper Bank, immediately went to her to listen and console her.  I was touched by the connection between them and the sense of dignity and compassion that they shared.
