Morning Rituals

On a snowy morning in February, I peered out the window of my daughter’s home on a farm in Colorado. Basking in the glow of a beautiful sunrise, her orange tabby, Jasper, was surveying his kingdom from the second floor deck while her dog, Stella, was busy below.

I was inspired by the contrast between the warm colors of the sunrise and the cat on the deck versus the cool snow scene. The dramatic long morning shadows and the frame of the window added interest to the composition.
