Murals for Justice
June 26, 2020
Following the peaceful protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death, artists gathered in the Bull City to paint inspirational words and images on the protective plywood covering storefronts. As I walked downtown and saw the artists at work, I was struck by the powerful way that art can support the cry for justice in our community. In effect the streets of Durham were transformed into an open air art gallery amplifying the voices of the protesters and touching the hearts of all who shared the experience.
